So when she says "among the ranks" she means in that group or in a group. You would be more likely to hear someone say "part of a group" to "among the ranks". This is because "ranks" seems quite formal, but given that this is a speech she is making to the United Nations, more formal speech is acceptable. Ex: This win will put us among the ranks of great soccer teams. Ex: I work hard to be among the ranks of writers who have won a Pulitzer Prize.
