Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

"Step-" is used as a title to refer to someone in a blended family. For example, if your father remarried, his new wife would be your stepmother. If your father's spouse has children already (not related to you), they would be your stepsister or stepbrother. Ex: I am quite close to my stepsiblings as we grew up together. Ex: My father married my stepmother when I was five years old.
