Can I use "carried" instead of "delivered"? Does it have the same meaning?

"Delivered" means to bring and hand over something to the proper address or person, such as food, mail, etc. "Carried" means to support and move from one place to another. In English, saying "he was carried by taxi" sounds strange. It sounds as though the taxi driver lifted him in his arms and brought him over to the house.
