In America, the "First Amendment" of the Constitution protects five rights: freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. These rights are guaranteed to all Americans, and cannot be violated by the government. This is what the "free speech rights" in the video refer to: the right to free speech as protected by the First Amendment. Ex: Many debates have arisen over whether the First Amendment also protects hate speech. Ex: The First Amendment protects citizens' right to assemble and protest despite pandemic gathering limits.
