What is the difference between a butt and a hip?

A "butt" is short for "buttocks", which refers to someone's rear end, or the part right below the back on the backside of someone. The "hip" is the part between the pelvis bone and the upper thigh bone. "Hips" are located right below the waist of a person, and are right above a person's legs on either side.
