What's the difference between "evidence" and "proof"?

"Evidence" is information about something or objects which help point to truth, but do not conclude something to be the truth. "Proof" is a stronger claim than "evidence". "Proof" is where you can draw a conclusion about something being truth because you know for sure. Having "proof" about something can come from having a lot of "evidence" pointing towards the truth of that thing. Ex: You have some evidence that she stole your money, but you have no proof! Ex: There is some evidence that he is not the murderer but it is not enough to prove that he is innocent.
