What does "which is why" mean?

"Which is why" is used to give an explanation for doing something. It is the same thing as saying "that is why". Ex: I didn't get much sleep last night which is why I am tired today. Ex: Motorcycles are dangerous which is why you should wear a helmet when you ride one.
