What is the difference between “point at” and “point to”?

"Point at" usually refers to pointing generally towards something, or indirectly at something whereas "point to" usually means to directly point in the direction of something. However, both of these phrases are often used interchangeably and their slight difference in nuance doesn't change their overall meaning.
