Does the word "hillbilly" and "redneck" refer to people who live in the countryside?

To an extent, yes, it does. "Hillbilly" and "redneck" are generally considered insults and derogatory words. "Hillbilly" refers to somebody living in the countryside who is uneducated or unintelligent. A "redneck" is someone in the south (of the United States) considered uneducated or unintelligent. Ex: He is such a hillbilly. Ex: Why do you act like a redneck?
