Can I use "more" instead of "lots of" in this sentence?

If you replace "lots of" with "more" here it would change the meaning slightly. "Lots of" refers to having a lot of different advanced R&D while "more advanced" would not refer to having a great amount of R&D but instead would imply that it would need to be more advanced than it already is.
