Are there any words omitted between "The sugars" and "it contains"? I don't understand the sentence structure of "The sugars it contains".

The only word that might be omitted here is "that." And I can understand why this part of this sentence is a little confusing! In the prior sentence, she says "You take a bite of cereal." The word "it" in this sentence is referring back to cereal. A better way to reword the sentence would be "The sugar that cereal contains..." Hopefully this helps clarify the sentence structure!
