Is this expression used only in very excellent case?

The expression "good gracious" or "goodness gracious" is used to express surprise and is very similar to "oh my god" or "oh my gosh". This expression does not have to be used only in a formal or elite case, however, it is little bit outdated and no one really uses it anymore except for old people. Ex: Good gracious! I'm going to be late for my afternoon tea. Ex: Goodness gracious, what is that boy wearing?
