Isn't it right to say "on saturday" not "saturday"?

Excellent question. In American English, the name of a day can be used adverbially, meaning you can say it without any preposition, in this case "on". In British English however, that is not the case and you would need to say "on Saturday". So both forms are correct depending on location. Ex: I have plans Saturday. Ex: I have plans on Saturday.
