Do "write a lot" and "write prolifically" mean exactly the same thing?

That is an excellent question. While technically "prolific" can be used to mean many or "a lot", it's actual definition is to be productive or fruitful. This is a little bit more nuanced than the word "a lot". Being prolific means that not only is someone producing a lot of something but that they're doing it to a very high quality. in this video clip, Emma Watson has chosen the word prolific to describe the author because she wants to emphasize that not only does she write a lot of books, but she also rights at a high quality. Ex: He is the most prolific songwriter of all time. Ex: She was a very prolific golfer when she was younger.
