What does "lean in" mean? Does it have the same meaning as whispering?

"Lean in" means to shift one's body weight forward to get closer to something or someone. Sometimes "leaning in" does involve whispering but not always. Ex: She leaned in closer to her friend to see the video on her friend's phone. Ex: Prince Charming leaned in to kiss Snow White. Ex: I have to lean in close to hear her.
