Can I use "another" instead of "other"?

"Another" and "other" mean two different things, therefore cannot replace each other. "Another" refers to an additional person or object that is the same or similar to one that has already been mentioned. Ex: Those cookies were so good, I want another. "Other" refers to a person or object that is part of a pair or set of people or objects. Ex: I'm friends with the other twin.
