A "consultant" and an "advisor" are pretty similar in that they both help a person, a company or a team of people do some sort of work that they are not able to do alone. That may be because they don't know how to do it, or they don't have enough people to do it. The difference is that a "consultant" will both help make a plan and will take part in doing the job, especially if the company or person they are working for doesn't have the time or ability to do it themselves. An "advisor" will only come up with a plan to help a person, or company figures out how to do the job. However, usually, they will not physically do any of the work with you. Ex: I am currently consulting on a 6-month project. Ex: I worked as an advisor for that project.
