Does "got off" mean "hang up"? Which do you use more between two?

Excellent question and you are right. We use the phrase "get off the phone with someone" to express the fact that that we have just ended a phone call with a person or have just finished talking to a person on the phone. Since both have the same meaning "hung up' could be used to replace "got off". However, I would say that "got off" the phone is used more regularly. This is most likely due to the fact that we say we are "on the phone" so, "got off the phone" feels like the more suitable opposite (on/off). Ex: I just hung up the phone with your grandma. Ex: I just got off the phone with your grandma.
