"Appointment" often describes booking a service, such as a haircut, going to the doctor, etc. "Reservation" often describes reserving a place, such as table at a restaurant, hotel room, etc. Ex: I have an appointment at the nail salon tomorrow. Ex: Our reservation for the karaoke room is at midnight.
