Does the word "collect" have the same meaning as "meet" in this context?

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

Kind of! "Collect" here means to pick up or to go and get. Enola is going to the train station to meet her brothers to bring her brothers back home. If she were "meeting" them, she wouldn't provide transportation to get home. Ex: I'm presently on the way to pick up my brothers. Ex: I'm presently on the way to go and get my brothers.
