The phrase "tend to" means to often have a tendency or a likelihood of doing something or behaving a certain way. Ex: I tend to procrastinate on my homework. Ex: She tends to act shy around people she doesn't know. Ex: People tend to think that all salads are healthy, but it depends what you put on top.
