"Break bread together" is an expression that means to eat a meal together; to distribute food to one another and eat the food together. Here are some examples: Ex: We became friends when we broke bread together. Ex: In the Bible, Jesus broke bread with his disciples. Ex: My family and I broke bread together at my sister's wedding. It's not a very common expression. Most native English speakers don't typically use "break bread together." We usually just say "we ate together."
