Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

"Gon'" is a shortened, casual form of "going to." Some people also use "gonna." Native speakers tend to slur or shorten words in casual conversation, so "gon'" is used in a variety of ways. Ex: Crap, I'm gon' be late for work. Ex: Are you gonna go to class? I heard it might be cancelled.
