Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

Drug, medicine, and medication are all essentially terms referring to the same thing, i.e. a substance that helps alleviate negative bodily symptoms or illnesses. However, "drug" also has the added definition of "illicit/illegal/experimental/recreational" drugs that do not help cure illness. In this video, the speaker is referring to this definition of drug (recreational drugs that are addictive and can harm the body).
