"Take it out of you" is an idiom that means to take away someone's energy or cause them to be physically or emotionally exhausted. This is a very common idiom to use when you are describing something which has made you very exhausted. Ex: Swimming really takes it out of you, I'm always hungry after I swim. Ex: Work today really took it out of me.
