What's the difference between "cat", "kitty" and "puss"? Are they interchangeable?

These are all the same thing! "Kitty" and "puss" are nicknames for a cat. These are all fairly interchangeable except for "puss." We don't really use "puss" because it has another meaning that is considered inappropriate. Ex: I have two kitties: Ron and Reggie! Ex: She runs a cat sanctuary. Ex: His kitty is 14 years old. Ex: Feline leukemia can affect cats of all ages and breeds.
