Text written in italics or bold type is to indicate that it is being emphasized. The general rule is that text in italics is for weaker emphasis, whereas bolded text is for stronger emphasis. Boldface type is also used for captions, titles, subheadings, and stand-alone words. Lastly, quotations in comics function the same way as in other forms of writing: to show that it is a quotation or statement made by someone. For example, if someone is speaking within a text, their speech will be in quotation marks. Ex: "I'm going on vacation next week," she said. Ex: He asked, "do you know where the book is?"
