What is different between "run" and "run around"?

"Run" refers to running with a purpose, such as to exercise, to escape a situation, etc. "Run around" is often used to describe children or animals running sporadically for fun or while playing. Ex: I'm going for a run tomorrow morning, would you like to come with me? Ex: My dog likes to run around in the park.
