I would say that in this situation congratulations is the best word to use. However, there are other phrases and words which you could use to express the same meaning. Some more common replacements for congratulations would be good/great job or work, well done, way to go, you did it. Ex: Well done, you've won the championship. Ex: You got first place! Way to go.
