“Borrowing” is the action of temporarily taking something that belongs to someone else, while the “lend” is the action of temporarily giving an item to someone else. You can think of it more simply as: to borrow = to take, to lend = to give. Ex. Can you lend me your pencil? I forgot mine at home. Ex. I borrowed a book from the library.
