A haiku is a style of short poem that originated in Japan. There are only three lines, and the first line has 5 syllables, the second has 7 syllables, and the last line has 5 syllables. Haiku usually involve some kind of reference about the seasons. The below is the example of a famous Haiku written in English by R.M. Hansard in 1899. The west wind whispered, And touched the eyelids of spring: Her eyes, Primroses.
