However, "take a look" is considered an idiom that means to examine or observe something, usually in a quick and casual manner. Idioms don't necessarily follow grammatical rules, which may be why "take" hasn't been changed into the infinitive form or the participle form. Ex: Hey! Come take a look at this! Ex: Could you take a look at the cut on my hand? I think it might be infected.
