Are "take a breath" and "breathe" exactly same? If same, which one is more common to use?

"Take a breath" is similar to "breathe", but they are slightly different. To "take a breath" means to take one breath while "breathe" implies that there are multiple breaths being taken. Both are common to use but it is probably more common to say "breathe" unless you are telling someone to only take one breath. Ex: Rest for a minute and breathe.
