So I suppose it has the same meaning as "pick me up", but is it a common phrase to use?

You're right! It does have a similar meaning here. However, It is not a common phrase to use! In the context of the movie clip, there is a literal "beam" of light that scans the emojis when chosen. You can hear this phrase in other superhero, space, and alien movies, where they use beams. Ex: Beam me up. I want to get to my spaceship. Ex: Captain, beam me up! I can fight these bad guys.
