A "sector" means an area of land that has been divided from other areas, like a state or district. In Switzerland, these sectors are actually called "cantons," and there are 26 of them. We believe they used "sector" here because the general audience may not understand what a "canton" is, and "sector" is a more common word to use. Ex: The financial sector of the city is located downtown. Ex: The country has over fifty sectors.
