Why would she mention "hair-pulling" in this context? Is it a cliche?
By "hair-pulling," she means literally pulling somebody's hair in a physical fight. It is an easy tactic to use in a fight if someone has hair long enough to grab! It is perhaps cliche within the context of a fight. But in general, it is not a cliche. Ex: Mom! Penny was pulling my hair! Ex: Ouch! You pulled my hair. That's rude.
