It's difficult to find neutral, inoffensive ways to say "gain weight." Some expressions include "put on weight," "get heavier," and "get bigger," however, the last two should only be used to refer to oneself and not others. Ex: I've put on ten pounds since last month. Ex: Because I've gotten heavier, some of my clothes don't fit anymore.
