What's the main difference between "forecast" and "foresee?" Also, what does the prefix "fore" mean?

If something is "forecast," the prediction is based on data, whereas "foresee" implies that it's predicted based on feeling or instincts! The prefix "fore" has a couple of meanings. The one here means "earlier" or "beforehand." Like the way one "foresees" something before it happens. It can also mean "in front" or "forward," like "foreground" or "foreleg." Ex: I never would have foreseen your return to the city. But here you are. => never would have guessed or predicted it on feelings and thoughts Ex: Rain is forecast for the week. Ex: The voter's data forecast a change in the presidential party this election. Ex: Try and get the foreground in the photo.
