Is it possible to use "best" without "the" in other cases?

When "best" is an adjective, the definite article "the" is normally used because adjectives modify nouns and articles are only used with nouns. However, when "best" is used as an adverb, you do not need to use "the". Ex: This pasta is best eaten with a salad. Ex: Do it as best as you can.
