Why is "listing" used here instead of "list"? Is there a difference in meaning?

Yes, as nouns, there is a difference between "list" and "listing!" A "list" is more general than a "listing." A "listing" is either a list published regularly or a singular item on this kind of list. A "list" is just items, names, or something is written one after another. So technically, a "listing" is also a "list." But not every "list" is a "listing." Ex: The job listings in the newspaper aren't great this week. Ex: Please put "milk" on the grocery list, John.
