"Altogether" is a compound word, but it has a meaning different from "all together," so don't get them confused! "All together" means with each other or as a group, while "altogether" is an adverb meaning completely or entirely. They are not used interchangeably! Ex: Altogether, my assets total one million USD. Ex: My friends and I went all together to the movies.
