Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

When something "reflects off" something else, it means that it's throwing back the substance without absorbing it. This is usually used for light, heat, or sound. Ex: If your car is painted a lighter shade, like white, then the heat will reflect off it easily. Ex: The light's reflecting off your sunglasses and distracting me.
