"Debut" means one's first performance or show in general or in public! Or, it can also mean a product launch. The origin of the word is French! Coming from the word "débuter" and "début," which means "lead off"- or the start of something. However, it is now also considered an English word. Ex: The band's debut will be on the 5th of July. It's their first performance in public after training for a few months together. Ex: Snowboarding made its debut in the Olympics in 1997. => First performance in general at the Olympics Ex: The new cell phone is debuting in a week!
