"Frankly" is an adverb that means an open, honest, and direct manner. So it's used when you want to be direct about something, regardless of how others take or understand it. Ex: She was known for speaking frankly and didn't care what people thought of her. Ex: Frankly, I thought the show was terrible. Ex: He wants to join the team, but, frankly speaking, he doesn't have the skills we need.
