student asking question

Just curious, but what's the most common name that British people call their country? England? Britain? Or the United Kingdom?

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

From what I know, It's most common for them to refer to their country as "the UK." And then if they want to specify parts of the UK that they're from, they would say England, Wales, Scotland, and so on. Ex: I was born and raised in the UK. Ex: My brother moved to Wales a couple of years ago. We drive up to visit him sometimes. Ex: I'm from the UK, more specifically, England.
