A "situation" is something that happens within set circumstances. A "circumstance" is a state, fact, or condition of something in relation to an event or action. Ex: Due to the current circumstances, the situation is that we can't have school in person. Ex: Circumstances have changed, and now you can enter the competition even if you're a professional. Ex: I got into a situation where my friend shouted at me.
