student asking question

Like "Los Angeles" or "Los Santos", it seems there are numerous cities that include the word "Los" in their name. Then what does "Los" mean? Is it even an English word?

"Los" is not an English word! It is in fact, Spanish. It's the masculine version of "the" in Spanish. So "Los Angeles" actually means "the angels", which is why it is called "the city of angels".
