Whenever I watch British TV shows or movies, I often saw the characters calling others "lads." What does it mean? Do Americans or Canadians also use it?

"Lads" is British slang for a young man. It's used as a way to address a young man. We will sometimes use "lad" to address someone, but not very often. Ex: Come on, lads. Let's get moving! Ex: Hey lads! Are you ready to go?
