Is it etiquette to say "allow me" before introducing oneself?

It's not necessarily etiquette, it's just a rather formal expression that is sometimes added out of politeness. It's definitely not necessarily to use this expression when introducing yourself, this expression is not very commonly used today! Some people do like to say this before opening the door or pulling out a chair for someone, however. Ex: Allow me to get the door for you. Ex: Allow me to speak first.
