As far as I know, both "volk (German)" and "folk (English)" indicates "people." Then despite the different regions, do these words somehow related, perhaps?

Yes, very good catch! "Folk" and "Volk" are related, as they come from the same proto-Germanic language family. Thus, these two words mean the same thing! English and modern German are related, and actually, English originally started as a dialect of old German! Ex: Look at all the folks here today! Ex: I used to drive a Volkswagen.
